May TBR: Nonfiction

Hello Readers!

As I predicted, I was a little too ambitious for April. While I read everything listed, I couldn’t get to writing a review for everything.

I’m going to skip a review for The Silence of the Lambs due to the movie and the book being almost identical. I thought the book was a fun ride, but it’s definitely one I wished I had read before seeing the movie.

For The Red Queen, the review will drop by next friday.

For the remainder of the month I’m going to be traveling in the Nonfiction section. I need a palate cleanser after The Red Queen (I’ll go into more detail in the review).

stiff

Last year I read Caitlin Doughty’s Smoke Gets in Your Eyes about her job working at a funeral home and what happens to our bodies after ‘we’ part from them. The read was fascinating, so I was excited to hear about Stiff by Mary Roach that focuses in to what happens to cadavers (spoiler alert: A lot)

Don’t know why I’ve been putting off The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks since I’ve heard nothing but praise.

A few weeks ago I went to a Q&A with Erik Larson about Dead Wake and now I’m pumped to read this book. The Devil in the White City is one of my favorite books, and I’m hoping Larson can create some more historical magic.

Also on the schedule for May: Book Con in Chicago!

I’m turning the big 3-0 this month and decided to drown my sorrows in books (much better than tequila). The author list is mainly YA and Romance but there are a couple of authors I’m legit excited to see. Mainly David Levithan and Jennifer Niven.

Have a great May!
