For all the books that we read last year, there’s always so many that we were unable to fit into our schedules.
Here’s to all the wonderful books of 2016 that I didn’t read, may I discover the gems that came from a tiring year.
1 All the Ugly and Wonderful Things – Bryn Greenwood
This book wasn’t on my radar till later in the year, and officially made my TBR when Book of the Month readers named it book of the year.
2 Homegoing – Yaa Gyasi
This made my TBR last summer, and I don’t know why I haven’t read this book yet. There’s about three books on this list where I’m boggled that I didn’t get around to reading them last year, and this is definitely one of them.
3 Jane Steele – Lyndsay Faye
I’m not sure why, but for some reason I thought this would be a modern reselling similar to Eligible (which I didn’t like). Then I found out that the lead is a serial killer. Color me intrigued.
4 The Mothers – Brit Bennett
I got this book for December’s ‘Book of the Month’, so sadly it just missed last year’s list.
5 My Name is Lucy Barton – Elizabeth Strout
Due to word of mouth, I decided to pick this book up at a Barnes and Noble sale. With all the great books I want to read, I’m not sure if I’ll get to it this year or the next.
6 The Nix – Nathan Hill
I got The Nix at BookCon, and I knew in my bones I should’ve put it higher on my TBR list, but I was worried about the length.
7 Saga Vol 6
I have to get to both Volumes 5 and 6, this graphic novel series is great and I can’t wait to continue on this adventure.
8 To the Bright Edge of the World – Eowyn Ivey
I waited for Christmas and it paid off! I now have this beautiful book on my shelf and I can’t wait to dive in.
9 The Wangs vs The World – Jade Chang
With all the dark books I have on my list, I’m sure that I’ll really need this comedy.
10 What is Not Yours is Not Yours – Helen Oyeyemi
A series of short stories that’s been on my TBR since March. My goal is to get to this one in the next couple of months.
