BOB 21 Recap: Day One

Hello fellow readers!

Time for another readathon, and I’m pumped. I hope everyone participating had a solid first day. I was happy with my pace today, and if I can keep steady I should meet my reading goals this week (cross fingers!).

I started with City of Thieves today, and I’m not exactly sure how I feel about the book. I think this is a case where my expectations were incorrect, and I just need to leave them behind. I thought there would be a lot more dark humor throughout the novel, but it’s more like tiny moments amidst this super grim story.

For those who have read City of Thieves, I just finished 14 year old Zoya’s story… so yeah… that’s some nightmare material right there.

Day 1 Challenge: Introduce Yourself #insixwords

“The challenge is simple: introduce yourself on Twitter, Instagram, or on this post using six words, no more, no less.”

So I’ve run across this challenge a couple of times now and these are my descriptors from then:

“Sweet and Sassy, Classics Reading Momma”

“Transplant Southerner who Hates the Heat”

I think both hold up well and I’ve been trying really hard to figure out another phrase that will continue my short story I’m building here.

“No-Nonsense Realist who Loves Bad Movies”

Yep, I am one of those weirdos who loves watching The Room and Birdemic! As much as I love great films, I have a tender spot for the best of the worst out there.
